The Poison Tree - Planted And Grown In Egypt [Auidobook]

The Poison Tree - Planted And Grown In Egypt [Auidobook]
Publisher: Malamih Publishing House | English | 2009 | ISBN: N/A | MP3 | 48 Tracks | 324 mb

... Born and raised in Egypt, I was brought up to be a good middle class Egyptian girl; but somehow being good did not suit my notions. Deep down I have rejected the heavy heritage of traditions and norms that made no sense to my inquisitive mind. I could not understand why girls were killed, committed suicide, or lived in eternal shame when they lost their virginity.

I failed to comprehend why such a rule applied only to girls and their male counterparts were spared. After my grand mother passed away we stopped celebrating Christmas, New Year's Eve, Halloween, and Thanks Giving does being a Muslim forbid me from all my childhood memories? Why do I have to get married? Why can't I date? Why do men cheat? Why do I have to accept it? Why? Why? Why? And many more unanswered questions.

I have come a long way from the scared little girl that I once was I found my passion in writing, my voice in teaching amp; training, and my strength in marketing I took off my mask and I decided to speak up and loud .. as loud as loud could ever be.

Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen

Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen by Julie Powell
Little, Brown and Company | 2005 | ISBN: 031610969X | English | 320 pages | EPUB, HTML | 1 mb

With the humor of Bridget Jones and the vitality of Augusten Burroughs, Julie Powell recounts how she conquered every recipe in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking and saved her soul.

Julie Powell is 30 years old, living in a tiny apartment in Queens and working at a soul-sucking secretarial job that's going nowhere. She needs something to break the monotony of her life, and she invents a deranged assignment. She will take her mother's worn, dog-eared copy of Julia Child's 1961 classic Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and she will cook all 524 recipesin the span of one year.

At first she thinks it will be easy. But as she moves from the simple Potage Parmentier (potato soup) into the more complicated realm of aspics and crepes, she realizes there's more to Mastering the Art of French Cooking than meets the eye.

And somewhere along the line she realizes she has turned her outer-borough kitchen into a miracle of creation and cuisine. She has eclipsed her life's ordinariness through spectacular humor, hysteria, and perseverance.

Amazon.com Review:
Julie Julia is the story of Julie Powell's attempt to revitalize her marriage, restore her ambition, and save her soul by cooking all 524 recipes in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Volume I, in a period of 365 days. The result is a masterful medley of Bridget Jones' Diary meets Like Water for Chocolate, mixed with a healthy dose of original wit, warmth, and inspiration that sets this memoir apart from most tales of personal redemption.
When we first meet Julie, she's a frustrated temp-to-perm secretary who slaves away at a thankless job, only to return to an equally demoralizing apartment in the outer boroughs of Manhattan each evening. At the urging of Eric, her devoted and slightly geeky husband, she decides to start a blog that will chronicle what she dubs the "Julie/Julia Project." What follows is a year of butter-drenched meals that will both necessitate the wearing of an unbearably uncomfortable girdle on the hottest night of the year, as well as the realization that life is what you make of it and joy is not as impossible a quest as it may seem, even when it's -10 degrees out and your pipes are frozen.

Powell is a natural when it comes to connecting with her readers, which is probably why her blog generated so much buzz, both from readers and media alike. And while her self-deprecating sense of humor can sometimes dissolve into whininess, she never really loses her edge, or her sense of purpose. Even on day 365, she's working her way through Mayonnaise Collee and ending the evening "back exactly where we startedjust Eric and me, three cats and Buffysitting on a couch in the outer boroughs, eating, with Julia chortling alongside us."

Inspired and encouraging, Julie and Julia is a unique opportunity to join one woman's attempt to change her life, and have a laugh, or ten, along the way. Gisele Toueg

If Love is a Game, These are the Rules

If Love is a Game, These are the Rules by Dr. Chérie Carter-Scott
Publisher: Dr. Chérie Carter-Scott 2006 | ISBN n/a | Language English | Audio CD in MP3/128Kbps | 378 mb

In her #1 New York Times Bestseller If Life is a Game, These are the Rules, audio series, Dr. Chérie Carter-Scott gave us ten rules for conquering lifes challenges and managing its unpredictable ups and downs. Now, in If Love is a Game, These are the Rules, she presents and discusses ten simple rules to help us find true love and create long-lasting, authentic relationships.

After 25 years of conducting workshops and seminars, Dr. Carter-Scott has discovered that the most important, and often the most difficult, part of the human experience is partnership. Everyone is either looking for love, or trying to find a way to sustain and feed the love they already have. Her ten rules are universal truths that we inherently know, but often lose sight of in the confusing game of romance-rules as simple as 'You Must Love Yourself First', 'Communication is Essential', and 'You Must Nurture the Relationship for it to Thrive'. Once understood and embraced, Dr. Carter-Scott's rules help us to learn more about our true selves and our needs, and make us better able to meet the needs of others.

As the ten rules show, building and sustaining authentic love is a delicate process that requires negotiation and clear communication. It states that while love is often challenged by change, it provides a variety of opportunities for us to grow as individuals. With her intimately warm and inviting style, Dr. Carter-Scott shares her own insights on love's journey, from building intimacy and taking the risk of commitment, to rekindling the faded flame by bringing back the sizzle factor. Her inspirational stories, coupled with practical exercises such as creating a criteria list for a potential mate or an outline for a formal relationship check-in, will bring out the authenticity in each loving experience. Fresh and inspiring, If Love is a Game, These are the Rules is a perfect guide to living a real-life happily ever after.

"Authentic love thrives on honesty and shimmers with truth [it] flexes and bends with the fluctuating needs and changes of each partner." Whether you're looking for a relationship or seeking to improve the one you're in, If Love Is a Game, These Are the Rules packs a wallop. Author Cherie Carter-Scott has figured out what makes relationships workand failand she doles out insightful advice. Carter-Scott follows the same format as her successful If Life Is a Game, These Are the Rules; she presents the 10 rules and expands each in its own chapter, with plenty of anecdotes to clarify how these rules play out. The 10 rules may seem obvious at first glance (e.g., "Negotiation will be required" and "Your relationship will be challenged by change"), but Carter-Scott keeps scoping out deeper and deeper levels and teaching practical exercises for using the information. For example, rule 3 is "Creating Love Is a Process." Sure, we know that. But she describes each step of the process1, connection; 2, exploration; 3, evaluation; 4, building intimacy; 5, commitmentand presents an array of strategies for making the most of each one. Following Carter-Scott's rules can't help but improve your relationshipor the likelihood of finding the right one! Joan Price

"From the day your baby is born, you are a teacher of spirit," Chopra writes. "Look upon spirituality as a skill in living, since that is what it is. I believe in imparting these skills as early as possible by whatever means a child can understand." To meet this end, Chopra translates his own "laws" so that even the youngest child can comprehend them.

CrazyBusy: Overstretched, Overbooked, and About to Snap

Edward M Hallowell, CrazyBusy: Overstretched, Overbooked, and About to Snap! Strategies for Handling Your Fast-Paced Life"
Ballantine | 2006 | ASIN: B000ME71GK | MP3 128 kbps | 381 mb

Look at what's happened to the usual how-are-you exchange. It used to go like this: "How are you?" "Fine." Now it often goes like this: "How are you?" "Busy." Or "Too busy." Or simply "Crazy."

Without intending for it to happen or knowing how, when, or why it got started, many people now find that they live in a rush they never wanted. If you feel busier than you've ever been and wonder how this happened and how you can keep up the pace much longer, you are hardly alone.

Crazy? Maybe not. Dysfunctional? Yes, indeed. We all have more to do than ever before and less time to do it. In this highly listenable audiobook, the foremost expert on ADD, Ned Hallowell, explores the society-wide phenomenon of culturally induced ADD.

Being busy may very well keep you from doing what matters most, or it may lead you to do things you deem unwise (like getting angry, for example). Being busy is a problem for almost all of us. This audiobook is about both the opportunity and the problem where this peculiar life comes from and how to turn it to your advantage. Offering solutions to this difficult, complex problem that might work for you, most importantly, Crazybusy may prompt you to create solutions of your own.

Hallowell turns what he has learned treating Attention Deficit Disorder into advice on how to cope with rampant busyness, "the problem and the opportunity" of modern life. He explains how to turn "the rush, the gush, the worry, and the blather (which also includes clutter)" into allies, so that one can have the things one wants with the speed, volume and emotional energy of the crazy-busy lifestyle. The roadmap Hallowell offers is helpful; that is, if one can manage to pick this book out of the never-ending stream of stimuli and find the time to read it.
