Typical DSP System

Different blocks of typical DSP systems are.

1. Anti-aliasing filter.

This filter is designed to reduce the out of band interfering signals. Ensures that maximum frequency is limited fm Hz.
So that this signal can be sampled at a rate fs>=2fm to avoid aliasing.

2. Analog to Digital converter.

It gives a binary code word corresponding ti the quantized level of the continuous time input signal.

3. Digital processor.

It represented by a transfer function H(z). It is an algorithm that produce an output sequence y(n) from the input sequence x(n).
Realisation of H(z) requires multiplier, adder or shifting element.

4. Digital to Analog converter.

It operates on the sequence y(n) to produce a continuous output signal. Usually the output is a staircase waveform.

5. Re-construction filter.

The staircase waveform is smoothend to reproduce the output signal.
